How are We Celebrating? We're Giving Away Presents. If you have a favorite Life-affirming or other 'in-scope' charity, and you host with us, we'll donate $24 to your charity after you complete your first 6 months with us, or pay an annual hosting fee (we can't donate money we don't have.) So you make out twice: you get wonderful hosting and design for over 60% of the retail price, AND your charity gets a nice donation... We've been asked if we would repeat this in subsequent years. We looked at the books, so to speak, and asked ourselves that same question. Thinking it over, well, we would love to do this every year you host with us. Does it cut into revenue? You may be asking what an 'in-scope' charity is. Good question.
An In-Scope charity is typically one or more of these categories: Educational, Patriotic, Social Welfare, Medical, Faith-Based, etc. It may have a 501 C 3 designation form the IRS, or it may not. Your local Catholic or Christian school is a good example. Boy Scouts. Churches. Fisher House. A CPC. Special education programs for children with developmental disabilities is an example.
A local organization that provides social services or medical care to expectant mothers.
The list goes on. We do reserve the right to stipulate which charities we do give to... they must have a life-affirming mission and purpose that has to do with the benefit of human beings. (Sorry, PETA, Greenpeace, NARAL, ACORN, etc. We won't donate to you.) If you have issues picking a charity, don't worry. If you're at a loss for ideas, we have some favorites we would be happy to suggest.
You may be asking how we can offer something at 70% off the retail price. Simple. We don't charge retail. Most of our customers are small businesses or individuals we know, and nonprofits. We don't advertise, and we keep costs low. We're not a "retail" outfit. Really.
We don't use hosting and design to put food on the table, so to speak. We just want to see ordinary people be able to use the Internet to support their hobbies, nonprofits, and good works, and even their businesses. We use word-of-mouth to advertise. Pretty sneaky, huh?
We must host a certain number of sites to keep costs low. So while you're enjoying superior hosting, you can feel assured in knowing that your support enables us to host some truly deserving people. Isn't that great?
